The REALTOR.com? Story: Who We Are and What We Stand For ...

1995. That?s the year REALTORS? became a force online with REALTOR.com?.

It?s been about 20 years since our birth, and even though our voice has gotten a bit deeper and our shoulders have filled out, we still stand for the same things we have since the beginning.

Our Core Beliefs: They define who we are, and what we stand for.

  • We believe consumers are best served by having a licensed real estate professional assist with the home buying and home selling process.
That?s why REALTOR.com? does not solicit FSBO listings, and FSBO listings are not permitted on our site. REALTOR.com? provides a marketplace for listings that are represented by licensed real estate professionals and REALTORS? who live, work and abide by a strict code of ethics.
  • We believe the real estate professional?s expertise is a far better indicator of true market value than an estimate derived by machine.
That?s why, on our site, every home listed for sale only displays the REAL listing price established between seller and broker.
  • We believe buying or selling a home isn?t a game, and accurate data is critically important for consumers and real estate professionals.
That?s why REALTOR.com? works directly with MLSs and brokers to ensure we have the largest and most accurate database of listings available ANYWHERE. Our site gets listings directly from 864 MLSs ? we update most listings every 15 minutes, and the remainder at least every 24 hours.
  • We believe consumers shouldn?t be confused about who the listing broker is on a property.
That?s why on REALTOR.com?, only the listing broker?s and listing agent?s branding, logos or photos are allowed to appear on any given listing. Period.
  • We believe listing brokers should have full control over how their listings appear on our site.
And that?s why we give every listing broker complete authority over exactly how their listings appear on REALTOR.com?.
  • We believe that REALTOR.com? should be self-sustaining.
That?s why we maintain and operate the site through advertising solutions that help real estate professionals; no NAR dues are used to maintain and operate REALTOR.com?.
