Green Living Show 2012
The sixth season of The Green Living Show, the biggest green consumer show in North America, is almost here. This three-day event dedicated to promoting sustainable lifestyles will be held from April 13th to 15th at the Direct Energy Centre. More than 424 exhibitors will visit Toronto and exhibit all the latest and most innovative green products and services that can enhance the standard of living in Canada and at the same time boost the green economy.
The Green Living Show promotes solutions for leading a sustainable, healthy life in modern society focusing on many aspects such as health, wellness, home, automotive, business, decor, fashion, and food. Thousands of visitors from all over Canada will have the opportunity to buy the latest eco-friendly green products, eat local food prepared by some of the most prominent chefs, enjoy the best organic wines, listen to various interesting presentations and demonstrations, and participate in creative activities.
The Green Living Show 2012 has something for the whole family. Youngsters from elementary and secondary schools can look forward to the Eco-Youth Day (Friday, April 13th), which is filled with interesting activities designed to empower youth to tackle environmental issues that matter to them. Thousands of film and music lovers will bring their pre-loved DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, and vinyls to join the three-day swap marathon and find new movies and albums and save more than $45,000. This year?s show will introduce several novelties, including Ontario?s most innovative and inspiring green technologies involving a unique first look at the ?Solar Ship?. Moreover, it?ll feature an active lifestyle and yoga pavilion, an expanded eco-fashion marketplace presenting the latest works of prominent sustainable designers. Visitors will have a chance to test drive the newest plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles and purchase the most eco-friendly and healthy beauty products on the market. Another new feature is a presentation and showcase of the latest marine, plant, and bird wildlife-saving solutions.
Das Haus at The Green Living Show 2012
DAS HAUS is an innovative travelling pavilion from Germany that promotes advanced technologies for home construction and solar energy use. The Green Living Show will be the sixth stop of their North American tour in which they share German innovations and ideas in the field of sustainable home construction and operational energy savings. Their pavilion at The Green Living Show will demonstrate ideas focused on minimizing a building?s energy demand and maximizing the efficiency of energy generated on-site. DAS HAUS? showcase features the latest technologies, including a thin film photo-voltaic roof, fa?ade, and louvered panel systems; heat-recovery climate control and ventilation systems; passive house standard triple-pane windows; solar-powered LED lighting systems and high-efficiency appliances; vacuum insulated panel systems; VRLA battery systems; and advanced wall construction materials and methods.
All of the technologies presented can be used in a wide range of real-world applications and budget demands. DAS HAUS features a number of prominent expert symposiums, exceptional networking functions, and guided tours of the pavilion. Entry to the pavilion and participation in various seminars and events are free of charge.

Green Living continues its successful partnership with Samsung, and just like last year, attendees to The Green Living Show can bring electronic waste to recycle courtesy of Samsung Canada. Since 2010, Green Living and Samsung have recycled more than 100,000 pounds of electronic waste from landfills. You can find the list of accepted electronic waste here.
